Welcome to Building Better Developers, the developer podcast where we work on getting better step by step professionally and personally. Let's get started. Well hello and welcome to a special edition. It is a Thanksgiving day if you are in the States and you probably are getting ready to or just finished eating more than you needed to. In our traditional let's kick back and have a good time with a lot of turkey, a lot of ham, a lot of mashed potatoes and mac and cheese and all that kind of good stuff and then take a really long nap and essentially prepare for winter. Today though I want to just enjoy the moment for a little bit and talk about being thankful for whatever it is that you happen to have. And yes, there are bad times out there. Some of us have had a rough year. There are all kinds of things that are not nice. There are wars. There are all kinds of arguments and fighting and financial woes and business issues and Maybe you lost your job or things like that which are agreeably not good. However, there are things to be thankful for during this time. Depending on what your situation is, maybe you've got family, maybe you are healthy and even if you have a lot of other stuff going wrong, you might have your health. You could have things like, hey, you at least have the opportunity to listen to podcasts So that pretty much says you've got some sort of a device, whether it's some sort of internet access, some sort of maybe even if you're an internet cafe, at least you have access to computer which is just from there and the internet, that's a lot of content, that's a lot of entertainment, that's a lot of information. There's a lot you can do with that. So there is something to be thankful for there. If you have any kind of food on your plate, you can be thankful. There are a lot of people in the world and throughout history that have not been there. So the goal here is not to just sort of nitpick your way into thankfulness but to just take a little bit of time, whether you are celebrating the Thanksgiving Day or not, and just appreciate maybe a little bit of what you've got. If you look for that silver lining, even if you've had a rough day, week, year, decade, whatever it's been, there are always some good things out there too. If you look for the good, you will find it. If you look for the bad, you will find it. Sometimes the bad will find you anyways, but if you're looking for the good, it does help make the trials go a little bit easier. As we get into this season where we're sort of wrapping up the year, maybe you can be a little bit more thankful. Maybe you can find a couple of things to be happy about, to be thankful for, so that as you end the year, you maybe end in a better mood. You don't have to get all festive and put the Santa Claus hat on and all that kind of good stuff, but if you can change your attitude around a little bit and look at the bright side a little bit, be a little more positive, you would be amazed at how life in general will start getting a little bit more positive. When you're looking for those good things, the good things will appear. As far as we're concerned here, you guys are good things. We're so happy that you're out there, that you're listening. This is why we do it, is to provide you content, to talk to all of these great interviewees that we've had this year, very thankful for all of them. Last year and the year before that, we've had some incredible conversations. This has been enlightening to us and hopefully, as I've always said, if it's even half as enlightening to you, then it has been more than worth our time, and the time of whoever it is that was our guest for that specific episode or episodes. If you're looking for something to do in your thankfulness, maybe you're trying to find some things out there, what are some things that are accessible to you? As always, you can always check out our site. You can go out to developeronor.com. You can check out Developer Onor on YouTube. You can check us out at school.developonor.com. We've got all kinds of stuff out there that you can be thankful for, being able to learn a couple more things maybe, if that is the kind of thing that you want to be thankful for. If you want to have a negative and say, Darn it, these people are still out there giving me content, we'll let you be angry at us for that. So hey, you could be thankful that we've given you an excuse to grouse about people or to vent. I just want to keep this one short and just say, hey, thank you for your time. Thank you for listening. We're going to continue to do this. Thank you so much. If you have any requests, if you have anything that we haven't covered that you would like us to or questions about things that we've covered, we are more than happy to answer at info at develop onor.com. You can go leave a comment on any of the places that you find this podcast. If you're out on YouTube, you can leave comments there. Feel free to just let us know how can we help you more so that if you're not as thankful for us now, next year around, you're really thankful for what we have done for you and where we have helped you out. For us just being out there because, hey, we're all in this together. We're all trying to become better developers and anything we can do to help you helps all of us, whether we're just getting started or whether we're years and years into our career, it just gives us this better community of developers and professionals. That being said, I am going to cut this one short and let you get back to hopefully enjoying your day and if not preparing for Black Friday and all of the sales and things that go on then. Until next time, go out there and have yourself a great day, a great week and be thankful for that great day and week and we will talk to you next time. Thank you for listening to Building Better Developers, the Develop Onor Podcast. You can subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Amazon, anywhere that you can find podcasts. We are there. And remember, just a little bit of effort every day ends up adding into great momentum and great success. Here we go, my song for Rob, my little insta hit. Now they always have a bit of a love song vibe to them because I think it's funny and it makes it a bit creepy and weird. So just heads up, here we go. Give it up for Rob, he's my new best friend. I think I love you and we haven't even met so I thought I'd write a little song for you because I think that you're so damn cool. California born, Memphis raised, but Nashville's aware he likes to spend his days. That hockey rink is where he likes to be but he's dying to head to Italy with Tim, Ian, Ben, Beck and Tom. Where he can stare at the stars all day long. He can eat that pasta till he passes out. Oh, well I love you Rob, I think there ain't a shadow of doubt. Come on, so I said give it up for Rob, he's my new best friend. I think I love you and we haven't even met. I want to say thank you for having me on your show. Cause this friendship of ours is one that can only grow. Thank you.
