We have hit record. Caught you right in
the middle of grabbing a drink. All
right. So, we
are we did imposter syndrome. We did off
the rails. Off the rails. Reading the
rooms and how to demo. We had a couple
topics out there. We had uh getting
valuable feedback, which I think we kind
of did through demo, but I don't know if
we wanted to do a different one on that.
And then uh self-doubt was the other
one. Let's do uh this is mostly because
I am a little in the midst of it.
[Music]
Um one thing I'm thinking about is like
I don't think we've done a
um shoot, how do I want to call this? um
uh I'll call it like a tuneup
uh business tuneup kind of thing
periodic taking a look at your what
you're doing and yeah since we're
nearing the end like a reset a review
uh I don't think we did I don't think we
covered that have we talked about
another one that I think would be nice
to do would be um like project
retrospectives for a business. It's a
little bit out of I mean it comes out of
the scrum world or actually I guess it
existed beforehand. It's a scrum thing
but it's also I think a very good
thing and getting the most out of your
you know learning from your projects.
Yeah, I think that works. uh cuz we've
done finance, we did overcoming
barriers, pitching, scaling, hiring,
uh business automation and templates,
leveraging AI, business growth
strategies, work life balance, disaster
recovery,
uh business continuity, keeping the
business running when life happens, uh
networking strategies, digital
marketing,
uh product placement
strategies, Product enhancement
strategies, how to build a sustainable B
business, uh pitching your business, uh
customer communications, strategies on
how to improve client interactions,
uh building customer trust, uh why
setting deadlines is key, taking breaks,
uh an MVP, stop chasing your tails.
Yeah, so those two would uh definitely
work. I especially like since we're
nearing the end of the season, uh the
like the reset or kind of
uh not rebrand, but like like you said,
just kind of like a review where you're
at kind of thing. And um what was the
second one again? Uh basically like a
retrospective for projects. So one be
more like a business tuneup, a review,
and then the other is actually more of a
project level retrospective. And they're
sort of sort of go together, I think.
No. Uh yeah, I'm just taking
notes. Okay, that
works. And then next time, uh so next
week will be our last two episodes of
the season and then we'll have the
wrap-up episode.
Okay. Yeah, we'll see where we want to
go with those. I think that's what we
did last time is we did a wrap-up and
then went right into the next season.
So, we'll see how that
goes. Um Oh, yeah. Randomly have not
heard back. I asked the one guy that we
got the um
uh interview email from looked like it
could be an interesting one, but then I
sent it to and it's he's got somebody
that's like his, you know, his person
that's going out there finding that
stuff and I sent it back, but I haven't
heard anything back from his person. So,
apparently his person sucks, but we'll
see how that goes. Um because that would
be a fun one. And that may be we'll see
because I think I'm going to also kick
up I think I'm going to get back into
the whole
um I'm going to get back into the whole
interviewing
interviewe kind of thing and
um one
second cuz I still have that uh Raina
from um Sprinkle Me Sugar. uh she was
interested in doing a podcast with us.
Uh I thought it would kind of fit with
this season, but we could kind of tack
it on as like a postseason interview.
Yeah, we might do something like that.
That's that gets it a little bit into
the next season. Uh maybe we'll sneak a
few more in.
So, going into business tuneups, what uh
kind of things you're thinking about for
this one?
Um, basically just sort of walking
through stuff like what are some of the
t this is sort of what we do annually,
but this is going through things like
website review and uh promotional
material review and stuff like that. We
did a little bit of it. We talked about
branding and things like that, but I
think it's a like, hey, take a look back
at it,
like working on your business, like
review your business and what you're
working on, where you're going, things
like that as well. Uh, really? Yeah.
It's like just making sure that you're
still on track. It's it's a
um business tuneup, something along
those lines, you know? It's like, hey,
periodically you need to just sort of
step back and take a look at where
you're at. Cool.
All right, let me do this one more
time. Shuffle this off so I don't get
annoyed or just pinged. Stupid
notifications. I can't turn them off
fast enough. All right, three, two. Oh,
I should do this more. I look a little
one more gianty wh two. One. There we
go. Well, hello and welcome back. We are
continuing our season of building better
businesses, but we are actually the
building better developers podcast, also
known as developer. I am just known as
Rob, I guess, also known as one of the
founders of developer and a founder of
RB Consulting, where we go out there and
help people use technology better. We
sit down with you. We help you un really
work to understand your business. Help
you craft a recipe for success that is
customized to your business, your goals,
where you are at now, where you're going
to be in six months, where you want to
be in years from now, and it's basically
called a technology roadmap. We start
with an assessment, basically figure out
where you're at, build a road map, and
then we can help you either do it
yourself to, you know, go off and
implement your road map, or if you want
us to guide or help along the way, so we
do that as well. All of this we do, we
help you wrangle your technology and
reduce your technology sprawl through
simplification, automation, integration,
and even innovation. Just use all the
tools that are out there to help you
have a better technology footprint and
ROI on that which happens to be one of
your biggest if not your biggest
investment in your business. Good
things, bad things. Uh I'm going to go
with good thing was Mother's Day. just
pre recently around the time we did this
is had Mother's Day. It was a uh we had
a everybody got together. We managed to
even though we weren't sure, we managed
to get everybody into one place for
food. Uh it was a lot of it. It was a
long brunchy type of thing, but it was a
very good one. Uh so great times all
around. It's those kinds of things that
sometimes you get to like appreciate
life and all of that and not be just
stuck with work.
bad thing is that happened to be
Mother's Day happened to be on a Sunday
which you guys may already know that
which was the end of a weekend and it
was a very long weekend. So by the time
we got done with the Mother's Day's
festivities and things like that, I went
to take a nap and the nap ended up being
essentially a full night and a half of
sleep or something like that because
just I guess everything just caught up.
So got a little worn out because of all
of that. Hopefully you're not too worn
out after my introduction so that you
are wide awake for Michaels. Go for it.
Hey everyone, my name is Michael
Malashsh. I'm one of the co-founders of
Developer, Building Better Developers.
I'm also the founder of a company called
Envision QA where we help
businesses really look at their software
uh make sure that their tools are
working for them and they're not working
for their software. We help you with
custom solutions. We help you implement
uh you know the right solution for your
needs. Be it something, you know, cookie
cutter off the the shelf we can buy and
implement for you, something custom or
if you are a software shop and need
help, you know, kind of spinning up
additional developers or getting your
product across the line, we also help
you with that. Good thing and bad thing.
Uh good thing, we are definitely over
the allergy season. So, I'm finally
finally feeling better. Uh it has been a
long slog. Uh usually it's like February
or March, April is really the worst, but
this is really dragged into May
something fierce. Uh so that's the good
thing. Uh kind of also uh good slash
bad. So for the last two weeks, my wife
has been away. So uh I've kind of had
the house, responsibilities to take care
of, you know, kind of detracted from
work a little bit and kept things going.
But she is back. So, uh, that is also
kind of a good bad. It it it's kind of
on the tail end of
that. Well, uh, in the world of good and
bad things, I guess we're going to talk
about business. Uh, we'll call it like a
business tuneup this time around. And
it's really this kind of thing that we
usually talk about at the end of the
year, maybe even in the be around the
middle of the year, which we are
actually at this point getting close to
a midyear kind of thing. You may even do
it quarterly. Uh but I would say at
least twice a year. You want to go back
and essentially review where you at?
What do you have? Where are you going?
And now with this particular focus we
want to do is really on your your
products, your messaging, your
offerings, things like that. It's a
little bit your brand, but it's probably
take it at a level deeper. And it's
really like what are your pitches? What
are your what are you selling? How are
you selling it? How is that going? Now,
you may be very attuned to these kinds
of things. You may have metrics that you
look at every day. How are my sales
going? How am I adjusting all this
stuff, but this is really bigger on a a
bigger picture. So, it's not really that
tactical. It's more the strategic kind
of look. And it's the things like how am
I doing towards my vision, my mission
statement, how you know maybe the
numbers are going very well, but am I
happy? Is the business growing at the
right speed? and my position so that if
these numbers continue, I will continue
to be able to provide my customers with
the experience, you know, the support,
all that kinds of stuff that they've
come to expect. And so this is a is
almost a it really is truly a holistic
kind of approach. So it's things like
looking at some, you know, sort of give
yourself a laundry list, looking at your
your website, that is one of your main
pieces, that's one of your, you know,
sort of the face of your company these
days. So, is your website up tod date?
Is it running? That's you should know if
it's not. But some places, especially a
smaller business, especially a side
hustle, it could be down for a while if
you don't check it on a regular
basis. But beyond that, looking at your
content, looking at the message, looking
at like go through your site like you're
a regular just random visitor. Is it is
the journey what you want it to be or is
it something that you maybe need to
adjust a little bit? Is it dated? Are
there uh for example, let's say you've
got a blog, you've got blogs on your
site. Are those blogs starting to get a
little dated? Are they a little old? Do
you need to do a little, you know, a
little painting and and freshening up of
those things? Do you need to take maybe
even your evergreen content? Do you need
to just go back and just brush some dust
off of it? or is it something a little
bigger where the evergreen content was
leading people in a different direction
than you really want to go right now?
And this could be it could be seasonal.
It could be one of these things where
maybe you're just in a you know you're
having a bad year or a different year
and you need to adjust a little bit.
Maybe you're not speaking to the same
sort of customers. For example, uh back
in the day when there was a housing
crisis, you had all these companies that
initially before the crisis came in were
talking to everybody about, hey, let's,
you know, get a second loan and do all
this kind of stuff and rates are good
and blah blah blah. And then suddenly
the market changes and so those u
positive messages are not what you want
to be selling on because people are
going to say that's not how it's going
right now. There's things like that. But
you want to just, you know, hit your
website. Also look at whatever your
primary marketing
uh pamphlets and material are. Whether
that is, you know, maybe it's as maybe
it's as core as what are your email
signatures. Are those things good? Are
your brands up to date as far as maybe
some of your logos and some of your
images that you're using? If you have uh
some sort of like you if you've got
business header letters that are going
out or reports that you're sending out
particularly if you're doing if you're
if you're somebody like us where you do
maybe you know daily or you know maybe
weekly or monthly reports are those up
todate? Do those maybe need a little bit
of a a freshening up? If you're doing uh
maybe you're doing sprints, so maybe at
the end of each sprint, are there
certain reports that you're delivering
that you need to yeah take a look at
them and and maybe tweak those a little?
Now, sometimes it's not a matter
of the content being bad. It's just a
matter of changing it up a little bit.
It's just like if you watch a, you know,
if you watch a TV show from series, you
know, season to season to season, it's
nice to have a different uh intro and
maybe intro and outro to each season.
Uh, a classic one I remember back in the
day was um, Home Improvement. It was an
old, you know, old old show that went on
many, many years, but then they would,
each year they would have a different
intro and then even when they got to
some of the later ones, they actually
showed the progression of some of the
kids that as they aged through the years
and, you know, as part of their intro.
So, things like that is just a little
bit of changing it up sometimes is
enough to get maybe some more traffic,
maybe get people to look at your company
a little differently. And so that's
where a tuneup is is going to be great.
You now you're sort of like think of
your car where now you don't maybe it's
not all dusty dashboard anymore. Maybe
you don't have a lot of bird poop out on
your on the trunk of your car. You're
actually you know get all that kind of
stuff cleaned up. It's the same kind of
thing we want to do with our business is
just take a look at it and with a little
bit of a you don't need a lot of time.
Maybe it's just 15 minutes, half an
hour, something like that. Just going
through your stuff. Is there something
you can do to touch it up a little bit
to just freshen it up? Those are some of
the thoughts I have on, you know, doing
a tuneup. And it doesn't have to be that
great or that big or that, you know, but
it could be very small. So, I think I'll
toss you. What are some of the things
that maybe you've done with your your
tuneups and your adjustments? So, I do
all those, but I do some additional
ones. So, for
me, I do
these kind of quarterly, but more or not
it we're too busy and it's like twice a
year. But I typically look at my uh and
I'm bad because you know you and I are
we're fairly small shop so we wear many
hats. So one of the biggest problems I
have is keeping up with the books. Like
I do weekly like balance a checkbook
things like that get everything good.
But I try to do a at least a quarterly
review of all of my expenditures for my
company. What are the services I'm
paying for? Are they still valid? Are
have I added some services for projects
that are no longer needed? Do I need to
cut those? Um, so I kind of look at a
expense review as my tuneup kind of on a
regular basis kind of like on a
quarterly semiannual
basis. And typically if you don't do
this, you could find out like those
Rocket Money or whatever uh Rocket app
or whatever it is that you have
subscribed to things that you're still
paying for that you're not using for
your business anymore. Time to cut those
out. You know, you have to keep on top
of those or you're going to be wasting
money on things that would be better off
maybe hiring another employee. So, as
you're going through this
process, look at some of the services
you have, some of the expenses and
income. You know, do you have more
income coming in than expenses? That's a
good thing. But if you have more
expenses going out than income coming
in, all right, where can you pivot? Do
you is there something you need to do to
change course or do you just need to
spin up or try to find some more
customers because maybe you just wrapped
up a project and you're in between
projects. So it's like okay you're in a
little low. So that's one of those
things you got to look at. And that's
also a good point too
is when you're in those lows, how is
your marketing material? You know Rob
mentioned website but how is your
marketing strategy? Do you have
marketing campaigns on Google? Are you
doing email blasts? You know, are you
keeping up with those and actually
following up with customers that respond
or are you neglecting those and
potentially losing customers? So, you
need to make sure you follow up on
that. The other thing that comes to mind
uh as we're talking about this business
uh tuneup is bandwidth. So throughout
the course of a year, could be a month,
could be quarter, could be half a year,
you could find yourself, hey, I've taken
in a lot more business than I've had 6
months ago. Maybe you're on a growth
trend. Is it time for you to look at
maybe a virtual assistant or hiring
someone else to help you extract
yourself from some of your projects? uh
and continue to look for new
opportunities to continue to grow your
business. Uh so these are some of the
things that you might not think of
because you're too busy. It's like I I'm
so working in the business, not on the
business. And those are kind of really
critical. The other thing too, which is
interesting, and we don't really think
about it with a business tuneup, but
when was the last time you went out and
networkked? When was the last time you
maybe went to a trade show or maybe read
some training documentation on what it
is that your industry is? You know, if
you're in healthcare, have you kept up
with the latest medical laws that are
out there? Are you still compliant? Are
you, you know, are you doing what your
business needs to be doing to stay in
business? Or are you potentially falling
into those gray areas where you're not
in compliance with the law? you're not
in compliance with new government
regulations, which could potentially get
you fined or shut down. So, those are
things that you do need to stay on top
of, but as small business owners or
business owners, sometimes we forget
about those because we're too busy just
doing our job. And that's what this
whole business tuneup is about. It's,
hey, take a pause, take a step back,
work on your
business, and kind of look at it from
all points, you know, like Rob said. So,
you have like your website review, you
have your marketing materials review,
you have your social media review. Hey,
was there a new social media uh tool
that rolled out? You know, are you on
TikTok? Is Tik Tok really for your
brand? you know, h are your marketing uh
funnels really working for your business
because those could have changed. So you
you may need to pivot, add some new
social media accounts, remove some
social media accounts. So a review of
that is highly recommended. You know,
review those marketing
materials. And another thing is if your
business is
growing, are you also keeping up with
your
infrastructure? So Rob talks about agile
a lot
and sometimes our agile
practices start out small. We do the
bare minimum we need to do to keep the
projects going because we're more
interested in getting things done than
completely following the agile model
because we're small. We we got to
quickly deploy, you know, get things
out, turn things around, make some money
so we can grow. But if you're on that
growth pattern, are you putting the
steps in place to ensure that you are
doing things in the right manner and at
the right time or are you skipping that
and missing out on critical things to
make sure that your projects are
streamlined, that they're moving forward
the way they need to move forward. And
the last thing I'll touch on
is if you do have websites, if you do
have software or technology, are you
keeping up with all your system and
software
updates or are you neglecting those? Are
you potentially letting zero day or bug
or potential security uh problems cause
your site to be hacked, cause you to get
ransomware? You know, are you keeping up
on those things? Those are very
critical. We don't think about them.
Most systems we put in place typically
are pretty good about reminding us, hey,
you need to do this. But you, if you are
a software developer, are you keeping up
with that? You know, you got OASP you
can which will go out and check for
vulnerabilities. It's gotten a lot
better since uh COVID and there's some
other tools in that that you can put out
there to monitor your site and keep
things uh to let you know when things
need to be updated and keeping track.
What are your thoughts on that? So,
there's a couple things there that I
think to add to would one would be just
check out for take a look for like maybe
licenses that have expired. uh sort of
as long lines as he said is things where
you're like maybe you're not using this
you can clean some of that up uh some
just to make sure that there are going
to be those things where it's like oh
yeah this is coming up I need to make
sure I do that it's similar to touching
base with people maybe you're you know
want to reach out to your your group or
certain customers every so often maybe
it's time to make sure you've done that
is there somebody that you were going to
reach out to and now time has moved very
quickly and you haven't uh so that
you're you know like hey now it's time
to to catch up with
Um, I'll actually go with uh something
that this is an opportunity to do the
things that I talk about every episode.
So, automation, is there something that
you're burning a lot of time on? Is
there maybe something that now it's like
it's time to automate it? It's a little
bit like uh Michael mentioned in
infrastructure. Same thing. Is there
something that's like we now can
simplify? Maybe it's something where
we've grown to a certain point and we've
grown or we've grown very fast and we
have that sprawl that I talk about and
that we maybe, you know, need to
simplify some of these things down. Uh
sometimes because you've grown a certain
point where now all those little things
you did, you've grown to a point where
like no, now we can find we can afford a
tool that combines those things
together. Um not going to worry about
innovation. That's something you may,
you know, that's more of a green sky
kind of thing that you may want to do to
but you between the uh automation and
simplification even integration maybe
now you've got a couple tools that you
realize it's like I'm spending too much
time with this or I've grown to a point
and I've got a couple different
departments they're sort of going their
different ways and now I need to pull
those things back together. Another
thing that you may want to take a look
at is just making sure if you're one of
those it's, you know, it's
certifications, licenses, uh, you know,
continuing education hours depending on
what your job is and what your focus is.
There's certain things that you may have
to do every an, you know, annually,
every other year, something like that to
keep current and make sure that you're
doing that. So, you know, it's some of
these are things that are maybe a
general checklist, but doesn't hurt to
take a look at those, particularly from
a business point of view, because you
may be a business where you need to, you
know, do certain things to be able to
operate in certain states or certain
municipalities or things like that.
Depending on your business, this is one
of those that we do tend to get a little
bit caught up
in whatever is going on, our customers
and things like that, and the next thing
you know, you've flown through it. Part
of what this is is it's just to like,
you know, put on the brakes. Let's take
a you take a look around and make sure
that we are set up for whatever our next
push is going to be. And that's the that
is the challenge we're going to throw
out to you this time is hopefully you
know maybe you've done this recently and
so you don't have to but if you have not
in the last you know month or two done a
you know business tuneup take 15 30
minutes something like
that run through the you know the key
facets the key properties the key
attributes of your business the you know
between marketing and sales and HR and
you know accounting and all that kind of
stuff is Just take a look. Are you
current? Are you up todate? Are there
some things that maybe you could like,
you know, do a little spend a little bit
of time on and freshen them up and use
it as a way to maybe get some customers
back, have a couple extra visitors to
your site, things of that nature. For
example, you could ask people to send
you an email like we are right now.
Shoot us an email at
infodelvelopreneur.com if you have any
questions, comments. Actually, even if
you don't, if you could just make
something up, we would love to hear it
because we love hearing from you. We
love feedback. We are getting near the
end of another season. And so, this is
the time that feedback becomes even more
valuable because you could actually
impact something that's going to occur
within a few episodes from now when we
start our next season. I don't even
remember what it is. I think this is now
25 is coming up. Something like that.
Anyways, it's a lot of seasons, a lot of
episodes, but we would love to hear from
you because we're more than happy to
move in a direction that helps you guys
out more often. Uh, more so you can also
reach us on X. You can we are at
developure. We have the developer
channel out on YouTube. If you're
watching this, then you already know
what it is, but if you're listening to
this, we do have a it's not a simalcast,
but we have a video version of the audio
the podcast. So, we also have it and we
always have bonus material uh as well.
So, it's worth an extra, you know, it's
a little extra time. You can always
block us out if you don't want to see
us, but at least you can get the audio
version and that will help out quite a
bit. That being said, I am going to wrap
this one up, give you some of your time
back. As always, we do appreciate you
being out there. Go out there and have
yourself a great day, a great week, and
we will talk to you next
time. Bonus material. So, one of the
things I touched on but really didn't
get into too much detail on is when
you're doing these business tuneups,
also make sure that you are backing up
all of your digital
content. This is a very good time to
ensure that you have backups of
everything that you need to keep your
business going in case of a disaster.
Uh, a lot of people don't keep up with
that and then emergency strikes and
whoops, I'm out of business. So, these
are great times to make sure that your
backups are working the way they're
supposed to be working. Uh, your sites
are tuned up like Rob mentioned. Uh,
make sure the sites are backed up.
Recently, I had a customer that their
site got hacked and we are luckily I
found an archive version of the site out
there. Uh, so we're not totally dead in
the water, but uh, we're having to
rebuild everything from scratch because
it's literally gone.
bonus I think I've been throughout this
time is because it's been I've been
playing around with this
lately take some of your key content
your you know your pitches uh maybe some
of your slide decks and stuff like that
take some of that content have a chat
with one of the AI engines that are out
there and see if it gives you some sort
of a a direction that maybe you're like
oh you know what I want to word this a
little differently or hey that's a
different line of business or a
different pursuit that maybe I can like
expand out that way. It's a great way to
just get your information with a
different set of eyes. I mean, you can
always sit down with a friend or
something like that and just say, "Hey,
take a look at my site. Take a look at
this flyer. Take a look at this email.
What do you think? What are your
thoughts?" And get their feedback. But
you can also get that through, you know,
AI engines to say, "Hey, what do you
think about like take a look at this
site and tell me what it says to you or
something like that." Um, and there are
a lot of tools like that that are out
there these days. And it doesn't hurt to
have, like I said, another set of eyes
and see what comes out of it because it
might actually be something that is a,
you know, suddenly an epiphany of your
own where it's like, oh, I can go this
different direction or I can state this
a different way and it's going to have a
a different impact. It's going to hit
them in the fields, as they say, a
little bit
differently. I don't want to hit you in
the fields anymore. I don't want to
exhaust you and make you take a long nap
that turns into a long night of sleep.
So, we will wrap this one up. We will be
back. We got a few episodes left before
we hit this season. And we don't even
know what this next season is yet. So,
we are more than happy to hear from you.
But probably like last time, we are
going to end up like going into episode
one and that is when we will actually
figure out what the next season is
because that's actually a really fun way
to go. It keeps it entertaining to us
and we're always worried about what is
that? We've got that cliffhanger of what
is the next season going to bring. Go
out there and have yourself a good one
and we will talk to you next time.

28.72

We have hit record. Caught you right in

30.96

the middle of grabbing a drink. All

33.239

right. So, we

35.8

are we did imposter syndrome. We did off

39.6

the rails. Off the rails. Reading the

41.92

rooms and how to demo. We had a couple

44.96

topics out there. We had uh getting

47.2

valuable feedback, which I think we kind

50

of did through demo, but I don't know if

51.92

we wanted to do a different one on that.

54.48

And then uh self-doubt was the other

56.84

one. Let's do uh this is mostly because

60.239

I am a little in the midst of it.

63.56

[Music]

65.479

Um one thing I'm thinking about is like

67.92

I don't think we've done a

71.159

um shoot, how do I want to call this? um

78.64

uh I'll call it like a tuneup

81.759

uh business tuneup kind of thing

83.72

periodic taking a look at your what

86.24

you're doing and yeah since we're

88.24

nearing the end like a reset a review

95.56

uh I don't think we did I don't think we

98.64

covered that have we talked about

100.88

another one that I think would be nice

102.079

to do would be um like project

105.799

retrospectives for a business. It's a

108.799

little bit out of I mean it comes out of

110

the scrum world or actually I guess it

111.439

existed beforehand. It's a scrum thing

113.2

but it's also I think a very good

115.159

thing and getting the most out of your

118.079

you know learning from your projects.

123.439

Yeah, I think that works. uh cuz we've

126.36

done finance, we did overcoming

129.039

barriers, pitching, scaling, hiring,

133.84

uh business automation and templates,

135.84

leveraging AI, business growth

138.56

strategies, work life balance, disaster

140.8

recovery,

142.56

uh business continuity, keeping the

144.4

business running when life happens, uh

147.2

networking strategies, digital

149.68

marketing,

151.28

uh product placement

153

strategies, Product enhancement

155.48

strategies, how to build a sustainable B

158.319

business, uh pitching your business, uh

161.599

customer communications, strategies on

163.76

how to improve client interactions,

166.319

uh building customer trust, uh why

169.36

setting deadlines is key, taking breaks,

173.68

uh an MVP, stop chasing your tails.

176.48

Yeah, so those two would uh definitely

178.8

work. I especially like since we're

180.239

nearing the end of the season, uh the

183.12

like the reset or kind of

186.879

uh not rebrand, but like like you said,

189.2

just kind of like a review where you're

191.64

at kind of thing. And um what was the

194.879

second one again? Uh basically like a

197.76

retrospective for projects. So one be

200

more like a business tuneup, a review,

201.519

and then the other is actually more of a

202.959

project level retrospective. And they're

204.56

sort of sort of go together, I think.

207.28

No. Uh yeah, I'm just taking

210.519

notes. Okay, that

214.519

works. And then next time, uh so next

217.92

week will be our last two episodes of

220.159

the season and then we'll have the

221.68

wrap-up episode.

224.2

Okay. Yeah, we'll see where we want to

226.159

go with those. I think that's what we

227.12

did last time is we did a wrap-up and

228.64

then went right into the next season.

230.4

So, we'll see how that

232.12

goes. Um Oh, yeah. Randomly have not

235.44

heard back. I asked the one guy that we

237.84

got the um

240.959

uh interview email from looked like it

243.04

could be an interesting one, but then I

244.56

sent it to and it's he's got somebody

247.28

that's like his, you know, his person

249.2

that's going out there finding that

250.48

stuff and I sent it back, but I haven't

252.239

heard anything back from his person. So,

253.76

apparently his person sucks, but we'll

256.32

see how that goes. Um because that would

258.959

be a fun one. And that may be we'll see

260.639

because I think I'm going to also kick

262.32

up I think I'm going to get back into

263.919

the whole

267.479

um I'm going to get back into the whole

270.88

interviewing

272.199

interviewe kind of thing and

276.84

um one

281.24

second cuz I still have that uh Raina

286

from um Sprinkle Me Sugar. uh she was

289.919

interested in doing a podcast with us.

293.28

Uh I thought it would kind of fit with

294.72

this season, but we could kind of tack

296.479

it on as like a postseason interview.

301.28

Yeah, we might do something like that.

302.72

That's that gets it a little bit into

304.24

the next season. Uh maybe we'll sneak a

306.56

few more in.

319.36

So, going into business tuneups, what uh

321.68

kind of things you're thinking about for

322.96

this one?

326.52

Um, basically just sort of walking

328.56

through stuff like what are some of the

329.6

t this is sort of what we do annually,

331.52

but this is going through things like

332.96

website review and uh promotional

336.24

material review and stuff like that. We

338.4

did a little bit of it. We talked about

339.68

branding and things like that, but I

341.199

think it's a like, hey, take a look back

343.919

at it,

345.68

like working on your business, like

347.44

review your business and what you're

349.6

working on, where you're going, things

351.68

like that as well. Uh, really? Yeah.

353.68

It's like just making sure that you're

354.96

still on track. It's it's a

357.56

um business tuneup, something along

360.08

those lines, you know? It's like, hey,

362.4

periodically you need to just sort of

363.759

step back and take a look at where

364.96

you're at. Cool.

367.44

All right, let me do this one more

370.759

time. Shuffle this off so I don't get

372.8

annoyed or just pinged. Stupid

376.16

notifications. I can't turn them off

377.68

fast enough. All right, three, two. Oh,

380.479

I should do this more. I look a little

381.68

one more gianty wh two. One. There we

386.08

go. Well, hello and welcome back. We are

389.039

continuing our season of building better

391.36

businesses, but we are actually the

393.36

building better developers podcast, also

395.759

known as developer. I am just known as

398.8

Rob, I guess, also known as one of the

401.12

founders of developer and a founder of

403.199

RB Consulting, where we go out there and

407.44

help people use technology better. We

410.319

sit down with you. We help you un really

412.72

work to understand your business. Help

414.319

you craft a recipe for success that is

416.639

customized to your business, your goals,

418.88

where you are at now, where you're going

420.479

to be in six months, where you want to

421.759

be in years from now, and it's basically

424.4

called a technology roadmap. We start

426.479

with an assessment, basically figure out

428.639

where you're at, build a road map, and

430.319

then we can help you either do it

432.479

yourself to, you know, go off and

434.24

implement your road map, or if you want

436.16

us to guide or help along the way, so we

438.72

do that as well. All of this we do, we

440.96

help you wrangle your technology and

442.72

reduce your technology sprawl through

444.479

simplification, automation, integration,

447.039

and even innovation. Just use all the

449.36

tools that are out there to help you

451.599

have a better technology footprint and

454.319

ROI on that which happens to be one of

457.039

your biggest if not your biggest

459.12

investment in your business. Good

461.599

things, bad things. Uh I'm going to go

464.479

with good thing was Mother's Day. just

466.479

pre recently around the time we did this

468.56

is had Mother's Day. It was a uh we had

471.599

a everybody got together. We managed to

474.08

even though we weren't sure, we managed

475.36

to get everybody into one place for

477.68

food. Uh it was a lot of it. It was a

480.319

long brunchy type of thing, but it was a

482.8

very good one. Uh so great times all

486

around. It's those kinds of things that

487.44

sometimes you get to like appreciate

488.96

life and all of that and not be just

491.44

stuck with work.

493.44

bad thing is that happened to be

495.759

Mother's Day happened to be on a Sunday

497.759

which you guys may already know that

499.68

which was the end of a weekend and it

501.199

was a very long weekend. So by the time

503.12

we got done with the Mother's Day's

504.56

festivities and things like that, I went

507.039

to take a nap and the nap ended up being

509.199

essentially a full night and a half of

511.12

sleep or something like that because

512.64

just I guess everything just caught up.

515.36

So got a little worn out because of all

517.76

of that. Hopefully you're not too worn

519.519

out after my introduction so that you

521.279

are wide awake for Michaels. Go for it.

523.76

Hey everyone, my name is Michael

525.04

Malashsh. I'm one of the co-founders of

526.959

Developer, Building Better Developers.

529.04

I'm also the founder of a company called

530.56

Envision QA where we help

533.32

businesses really look at their software

536.64

uh make sure that their tools are

539.44

working for them and they're not working

540.88

for their software. We help you with

542.48

custom solutions. We help you implement

545.44

uh you know the right solution for your

547.36

needs. Be it something, you know, cookie

549.519

cutter off the the shelf we can buy and

551.2

implement for you, something custom or

554

if you are a software shop and need

556.08

help, you know, kind of spinning up

558.64

additional developers or getting your

560.64

product across the line, we also help

563.12

you with that. Good thing and bad thing.

565.839

Uh good thing, we are definitely over

569.279

the allergy season. So, I'm finally

572.6

finally feeling better. Uh it has been a

575.92

long slog. Uh usually it's like February

580

or March, April is really the worst, but

582.8

this is really dragged into May

584.959

something fierce. Uh so that's the good

588.399

thing. Uh kind of also uh good slash

591.839

bad. So for the last two weeks, my wife

593.76

has been away. So uh I've kind of had

596.32

the house, responsibilities to take care

598.959

of, you know, kind of detracted from

601.2

work a little bit and kept things going.

603.92

But she is back. So, uh, that is also

606.88

kind of a good bad. It it it's kind of

609.44

on the tail end of

611.72

that. Well, uh, in the world of good and

614.8

bad things, I guess we're going to talk

616.16

about business. Uh, we'll call it like a

618.079

business tuneup this time around. And

620.48

it's really this kind of thing that we

622.32

usually talk about at the end of the

623.76

year, maybe even in the be around the

625.839

middle of the year, which we are

626.88

actually at this point getting close to

628.64

a midyear kind of thing. You may even do

630.959

it quarterly. Uh but I would say at

632.959

least twice a year. You want to go back

635.6

and essentially review where you at?

638.72

What do you have? Where are you going?

640.8

And now with this particular focus we

643.279

want to do is really on your your

645.68

products, your messaging, your

647.48

offerings, things like that. It's a

649.279

little bit your brand, but it's probably

651.44

take it at a level deeper. And it's

653.68

really like what are your pitches? What

655.36

are your what are you selling? How are

657.2

you selling it? How is that going? Now,

659.68

you may be very attuned to these kinds

662.399

of things. You may have metrics that you

664.16

look at every day. How are my sales

665.6

going? How am I adjusting all this

667.64

stuff, but this is really bigger on a a

670.48

bigger picture. So, it's not really that

671.92

tactical. It's more the strategic kind

674.079

of look. And it's the things like how am

676.959

I doing towards my vision, my mission

680.16

statement, how you know maybe the

682.88

numbers are going very well, but am I

685.2

happy? Is the business growing at the

687.279

right speed? and my position so that if

689.519

these numbers continue, I will continue

691.92

to be able to provide my customers with

694.32

the experience, you know, the support,

696.72

all that kinds of stuff that they've

698.079

come to expect. And so this is a is

701.04

almost a it really is truly a holistic

703.2

kind of approach. So it's things like

706.399

looking at some, you know, sort of give

708.48

yourself a laundry list, looking at your

710.8

your website, that is one of your main

713.519

pieces, that's one of your, you know,

715.36

sort of the face of your company these

716.959

days. So, is your website up tod date?

719.6

Is it running? That's you should know if

721.76

it's not. But some places, especially a

723.76

smaller business, especially a side

725.12

hustle, it could be down for a while if

727.279

you don't check it on a regular

729.24

basis. But beyond that, looking at your

733.04

content, looking at the message, looking

735.04

at like go through your site like you're

737.76

a regular just random visitor. Is it is

742.079

the journey what you want it to be or is

744.88

it something that you maybe need to

746.48

adjust a little bit? Is it dated? Are

749.04

there uh for example, let's say you've

750.72

got a blog, you've got blogs on your

752.399

site. Are those blogs starting to get a

754.639

little dated? Are they a little old? Do

756.079

you need to do a little, you know, a

757.6

little painting and and freshening up of

760.16

those things? Do you need to take maybe

762.32

even your evergreen content? Do you need

764.32

to just go back and just brush some dust

767.2

off of it? or is it something a little

770

bigger where the evergreen content was

772.24

leading people in a different direction

773.92

than you really want to go right now?

776.079

And this could be it could be seasonal.

779.04

It could be one of these things where

780.24

maybe you're just in a you know you're

781.839

having a bad year or a different year

783.6

and you need to adjust a little bit.

785.519

Maybe you're not speaking to the same

786.88

sort of customers. For example, uh back

789.36

in the day when there was a housing

790.639

crisis, you had all these companies that

792.16

initially before the crisis came in were

794.24

talking to everybody about, hey, let's,

796

you know, get a second loan and do all

797.519

this kind of stuff and rates are good

798.72

and blah blah blah. And then suddenly

800.639

the market changes and so those u

803.839

positive messages are not what you want

805.76

to be selling on because people are

807.04

going to say that's not how it's going

808.399

right now. There's things like that. But

811.519

you want to just, you know, hit your

813.279

website. Also look at whatever your

816.279

primary marketing

818.839

uh pamphlets and material are. Whether

822

that is, you know, maybe it's as maybe

823.839

it's as core as what are your email

826.24

signatures. Are those things good? Are

828.399

your brands up to date as far as maybe

830.32

some of your logos and some of your

831.839

images that you're using? If you have uh

834.56

some sort of like you if you've got

836.399

business header letters that are going

838.48

out or reports that you're sending out

840.88

particularly if you're doing if you're

842.959

if you're somebody like us where you do

844.56

maybe you know daily or you know maybe

847.12

weekly or monthly reports are those up

850.959

todate? Do those maybe need a little bit

852.72

of a a freshening up? If you're doing uh

855.68

maybe you're doing sprints, so maybe at

857.36

the end of each sprint, are there

858.72

certain reports that you're delivering

860.079

that you need to yeah take a look at

861.839

them and and maybe tweak those a little?

863.839

Now, sometimes it's not a matter

866.199

of the content being bad. It's just a

870.48

matter of changing it up a little bit.

872.399

It's just like if you watch a, you know,

873.839

if you watch a TV show from series, you

875.76

know, season to season to season, it's

877.92

nice to have a different uh intro and

881.199

maybe intro and outro to each season.

883.519

Uh, a classic one I remember back in the

885.6

day was um, Home Improvement. It was an

888.56

old, you know, old old show that went on

891.36

many, many years, but then they would,

893.279

each year they would have a different

894.48

intro and then even when they got to

896

some of the later ones, they actually

897.279

showed the progression of some of the

899.199

kids that as they aged through the years

901.199

and, you know, as part of their intro.

902.959

So, things like that is just a little

905.04

bit of changing it up sometimes is

906.959

enough to get maybe some more traffic,

910

maybe get people to look at your company

911.519

a little differently. And so that's

913.6

where a tuneup is is going to be great.

915.36

You now you're sort of like think of

916.72

your car where now you don't maybe it's

918.399

not all dusty dashboard anymore. Maybe

920.56

you don't have a lot of bird poop out on

922.24

your on the trunk of your car. You're

924

actually you know get all that kind of

925.36

stuff cleaned up. It's the same kind of

927.199

thing we want to do with our business is

928.8

just take a look at it and with a little

930.959

bit of a you don't need a lot of time.

932.959

Maybe it's just 15 minutes, half an

934.48

hour, something like that. Just going

935.839

through your stuff. Is there something

937.68

you can do to touch it up a little bit

939.519

to just freshen it up? Those are some of

942

the thoughts I have on, you know, doing

944.24

a tuneup. And it doesn't have to be that

946.639

great or that big or that, you know, but

948.639

it could be very small. So, I think I'll

950.32

toss you. What are some of the things

951.759

that maybe you've done with your your

953.279

tuneups and your adjustments? So, I do

956.32

all those, but I do some additional

959.04

ones. So, for

960.92

me, I do

963

these kind of quarterly, but more or not

967.04

it we're too busy and it's like twice a

968.959

year. But I typically look at my uh and

973.92

I'm bad because you know you and I are

977.12

we're fairly small shop so we wear many

980.32

hats. So one of the biggest problems I

982.279

have is keeping up with the books. Like

985.68

I do weekly like balance a checkbook

988.079

things like that get everything good.

990.199

But I try to do a at least a quarterly

993.56

review of all of my expenditures for my

997.44

company. What are the services I'm

999.279

paying for? Are they still valid? Are

1002.24

have I added some services for projects

1004.16

that are no longer needed? Do I need to

1006.32

cut those? Um, so I kind of look at a

1009.759

expense review as my tuneup kind of on a

1013.04

regular basis kind of like on a

1014.399

quarterly semiannual

1016.279

basis. And typically if you don't do

1019.6

this, you could find out like those

1021.519

Rocket Money or whatever uh Rocket app

1023.92

or whatever it is that you have

1026

subscribed to things that you're still

1027.439

paying for that you're not using for

1029.36

your business anymore. Time to cut those

1031.839

out. You know, you have to keep on top

1033.919

of those or you're going to be wasting

1035.76

money on things that would be better off

1037.839

maybe hiring another employee. So, as

1041.28

you're going through this

1043.16

process, look at some of the services

1046.48

you have, some of the expenses and

1048.88

income. You know, do you have more

1050.48

income coming in than expenses? That's a

1053.12

good thing. But if you have more

1054.24

expenses going out than income coming

1056.799

in, all right, where can you pivot? Do

1059.039

you is there something you need to do to

1061.039

change course or do you just need to

1063.6

spin up or try to find some more

1065.6

customers because maybe you just wrapped

1068.24

up a project and you're in between

1070.24

projects. So it's like okay you're in a

1071.76

little low. So that's one of those

1073.44

things you got to look at. And that's

1075.2

also a good point too

1078.36

is when you're in those lows, how is

1082.16

your marketing material? You know Rob

1084.08

mentioned website but how is your

1086.4

marketing strategy? Do you have

1088.08

marketing campaigns on Google? Are you

1090

doing email blasts? You know, are you

1092.559

keeping up with those and actually

1094.48

following up with customers that respond

1097.44

or are you neglecting those and

1100.08

potentially losing customers? So, you

1102

need to make sure you follow up on

1104.039

that. The other thing that comes to mind

1107.28

uh as we're talking about this business

1110

uh tuneup is bandwidth. So throughout

1114.08

the course of a year, could be a month,

1115.919

could be quarter, could be half a year,

1119.12

you could find yourself, hey, I've taken

1121.44

in a lot more business than I've had 6

1124.64

months ago. Maybe you're on a growth

1127.799

trend. Is it time for you to look at

1131.039

maybe a virtual assistant or hiring

1133.679

someone else to help you extract

1136.64

yourself from some of your projects? uh

1139.6

and continue to look for new

1141.76

opportunities to continue to grow your

1143.6

business. Uh so these are some of the

1145.6

things that you might not think of

1147.28

because you're too busy. It's like I I'm

1149.44

so working in the business, not on the

1153.96

business. And those are kind of really

1156

critical. The other thing too, which is

1159.44

interesting, and we don't really think

1161.2

about it with a business tuneup, but

1163.12

when was the last time you went out and

1164.64

networkked? When was the last time you

1166

maybe went to a trade show or maybe read

1169.28

some training documentation on what it

1172

is that your industry is? You know, if

1174.72

you're in healthcare, have you kept up

1177.36

with the latest medical laws that are

1179.84

out there? Are you still compliant? Are

1182.559

you, you know, are you doing what your

1185.039

business needs to be doing to stay in

1187.12

business? Or are you potentially falling

1190.4

into those gray areas where you're not

1192.72

in compliance with the law? you're not

1194.559

in compliance with new government

1197.24

regulations, which could potentially get

1199.28

you fined or shut down. So, those are

1202

things that you do need to stay on top

1203.76

of, but as small business owners or

1207.039

business owners, sometimes we forget

1208.88

about those because we're too busy just

1211.2

doing our job. And that's what this

1214.08

whole business tuneup is about. It's,

1215.84

hey, take a pause, take a step back,

1219.919

work on your

1222.12

business, and kind of look at it from

1224.32

all points, you know, like Rob said. So,

1226.32

you have like your website review, you

1228.159

have your marketing materials review,

1230.4

you have your social media review. Hey,

1233.679

was there a new social media uh tool

1236.32

that rolled out? You know, are you on

1238

TikTok? Is Tik Tok really for your

1239.679

brand? you know, h are your marketing uh

1243.48

funnels really working for your business

1246.559

because those could have changed. So you

1248.24

you may need to pivot, add some new

1250.64

social media accounts, remove some

1252.88

social media accounts. So a review of

1255.36

that is highly recommended. You know,

1257.679

review those marketing

1259.64

materials. And another thing is if your

1263.28

business is

1265.159

growing, are you also keeping up with

1270.2

your

1271.96

infrastructure? So Rob talks about agile

1274.48

a lot

1275.48

and sometimes our agile

1279.24

practices start out small. We do the

1282.72

bare minimum we need to do to keep the

1285.12

projects going because we're more

1286.559

interested in getting things done than

1289.84

completely following the agile model

1291.6

because we're small. We we got to

1293.44

quickly deploy, you know, get things

1295.52

out, turn things around, make some money

1297.12

so we can grow. But if you're on that

1300.159

growth pattern, are you putting the

1302.96

steps in place to ensure that you are

1306

doing things in the right manner and at

1309.039

the right time or are you skipping that

1312.559

and missing out on critical things to

1314.799

make sure that your projects are

1316

streamlined, that they're moving forward

1317.76

the way they need to move forward. And

1320

the last thing I'll touch on

1322.2

is if you do have websites, if you do

1325.2

have software or technology, are you

1328.96

keeping up with all your system and

1331.76

software

1333.32

updates or are you neglecting those? Are

1336.32

you potentially letting zero day or bug

1340.72

or potential security uh problems cause

1345.12

your site to be hacked, cause you to get

1348.6

ransomware? You know, are you keeping up

1350.88

on those things? Those are very

1352.24

critical. We don't think about them.

1354.4

Most systems we put in place typically

1356.88

are pretty good about reminding us, hey,

1358.72

you need to do this. But you, if you are

1361.28

a software developer, are you keeping up

1363.919

with that? You know, you got OASP you

1366.64

can which will go out and check for

1368

vulnerabilities. It's gotten a lot

1369.52

better since uh COVID and there's some

1372.4

other tools in that that you can put out

1373.679

there to monitor your site and keep

1375.2

things uh to let you know when things

1377.679

need to be updated and keeping track.

1380.48

What are your thoughts on that? So,

1382.24

there's a couple things there that I

1383.679

think to add to would one would be just

1385.76

check out for take a look for like maybe

1387.84

licenses that have expired. uh sort of

1390

as long lines as he said is things where

1391.84

you're like maybe you're not using this

1393.28

you can clean some of that up uh some

1395.36

just to make sure that there are going

1396.48

to be those things where it's like oh

1397.76

yeah this is coming up I need to make

1399.76

sure I do that it's similar to touching

1401.919

base with people maybe you're you know

1403.919

want to reach out to your your group or

1406.32

certain customers every so often maybe

1409.039

it's time to make sure you've done that

1410.4

is there somebody that you were going to

1411.52

reach out to and now time has moved very

1414.24

quickly and you haven't uh so that

1416.159

you're you know like hey now it's time

1417.76

to to catch up with

1419.24

Um, I'll actually go with uh something

1422.4

that this is an opportunity to do the

1424.799

things that I talk about every episode.

1427.44

So, automation, is there something that

1429.2

you're burning a lot of time on? Is

1430.64

there maybe something that now it's like

1432.4

it's time to automate it? It's a little

1434.24

bit like uh Michael mentioned in

1436.28

infrastructure. Same thing. Is there

1438.159

something that's like we now can

1440.32

simplify? Maybe it's something where

1442

we've grown to a certain point and we've

1444.48

grown or we've grown very fast and we

1446.159

have that sprawl that I talk about and

1448

that we maybe, you know, need to

1449.28

simplify some of these things down. Uh

1451.679

sometimes because you've grown a certain

1453.36

point where now all those little things

1455.76

you did, you've grown to a point where

1457.039

like no, now we can find we can afford a

1459.6

tool that combines those things

1461.64

together. Um not going to worry about

1464

innovation. That's something you may,

1465.44

you know, that's more of a green sky

1466.799

kind of thing that you may want to do to

1469.159

but you between the uh automation and

1472.159

simplification even integration maybe

1474.799

now you've got a couple tools that you

1476.4

realize it's like I'm spending too much

1478.88

time with this or I've grown to a point

1480.4

and I've got a couple different

1481.44

departments they're sort of going their

1483.12

different ways and now I need to pull

1485.279

those things back together. Another

1488.24

thing that you may want to take a look

1489.36

at is just making sure if you're one of

1491.919

those it's, you know, it's

1493.12

certifications, licenses, uh, you know,

1496.64

continuing education hours depending on

1498.48

what your job is and what your focus is.

1500.88

There's certain things that you may have

1502.159

to do every an, you know, annually,

1504.159

every other year, something like that to

1505.96

keep current and make sure that you're

1509.039

doing that. So, you know, it's some of

1510.799

these are things that are maybe a

1512.08

general checklist, but doesn't hurt to

1515.679

take a look at those, particularly from

1517.12

a business point of view, because you

1518.96

may be a business where you need to, you

1521.6

know, do certain things to be able to

1523.279

operate in certain states or certain

1525.44

municipalities or things like that.

1527.36

Depending on your business, this is one

1529.36

of those that we do tend to get a little

1531.279

bit caught up

1532.679

in whatever is going on, our customers

1535.36

and things like that, and the next thing

1536.559

you know, you've flown through it. Part

1538.08

of what this is is it's just to like,

1540.08

you know, put on the brakes. Let's take

1542.559

a you take a look around and make sure

1544.159

that we are set up for whatever our next

1546.96

push is going to be. And that's the that

1549.039

is the challenge we're going to throw

1550.32

out to you this time is hopefully you

1553.2

know maybe you've done this recently and

1554.72

so you don't have to but if you have not

1556.88

in the last you know month or two done a

1559.679

you know business tuneup take 15 30

1562.559

minutes something like

1563.799

that run through the you know the key

1567.84

facets the key properties the key

1569.679

attributes of your business the you know

1572.24

between marketing and sales and HR and

1575.36

you know accounting and all that kind of

1576.64

stuff is Just take a look. Are you

1579.039

current? Are you up todate? Are there

1581.679

some things that maybe you could like,

1583.12

you know, do a little spend a little bit

1584.72

of time on and freshen them up and use

1588.159

it as a way to maybe get some customers

1590

back, have a couple extra visitors to

1591.6

your site, things of that nature. For

1594.08

example, you could ask people to send

1596

you an email like we are right now.

1598

Shoot us an email at

1599.24

infodelvelopreneur.com if you have any

1601.279

questions, comments. Actually, even if

1603.12

you don't, if you could just make

1604.64

something up, we would love to hear it

1606.08

because we love hearing from you. We

1607.44

love feedback. We are getting near the

1609.44

end of another season. And so, this is

1611.679

the time that feedback becomes even more

1613.6

valuable because you could actually

1615.64

impact something that's going to occur

1617.6

within a few episodes from now when we

1619.279

start our next season. I don't even

1621.12

remember what it is. I think this is now

1622.559

25 is coming up. Something like that.

1624.96

Anyways, it's a lot of seasons, a lot of

1627.279

episodes, but we would love to hear from

1629.52

you because we're more than happy to

1630.96

move in a direction that helps you guys

1633.36

out more often. Uh, more so you can also

1636.24

reach us on X. You can we are at

1638.64

developure. We have the developer

1640.559

channel out on YouTube. If you're

1642.08

watching this, then you already know

1643.12

what it is, but if you're listening to

1644.48

this, we do have a it's not a simalcast,

1647.12

but we have a video version of the audio

1649.44

the podcast. So, we also have it and we

1651.679

always have bonus material uh as well.

1654.24

So, it's worth an extra, you know, it's

1656.4

a little extra time. You can always

1658.24

block us out if you don't want to see

1659.44

us, but at least you can get the audio

1660.799

version and that will help out quite a

1662.559

bit. That being said, I am going to wrap

1664.96

this one up, give you some of your time

1666.88

back. As always, we do appreciate you

1669.12

being out there. Go out there and have

1670.72

yourself a great day, a great week, and

1672.799

we will talk to you next

1675.48

time. Bonus material. So, one of the

1679.64

things I touched on but really didn't

1682.24

get into too much detail on is when

1684.72

you're doing these business tuneups,

1686.64

also make sure that you are backing up

1688.72

all of your digital

1691.48

content. This is a very good time to

1694.159

ensure that you have backups of

1695.84

everything that you need to keep your

1697.6

business going in case of a disaster.

1700.64

Uh, a lot of people don't keep up with

1702.48

that and then emergency strikes and

1705.039

whoops, I'm out of business. So, these

1708

are great times to make sure that your

1709.52

backups are working the way they're

1710.88

supposed to be working. Uh, your sites

1712.96

are tuned up like Rob mentioned. Uh,

1714.96

make sure the sites are backed up.

1717.2

Recently, I had a customer that their

1718.88

site got hacked and we are luckily I

1723.44

found an archive version of the site out

1725.52

there. Uh, so we're not totally dead in

1728.48

the water, but uh, we're having to

1730.64

rebuild everything from scratch because

1732.32

it's literally gone.

1736.72

bonus I think I've been throughout this

1738.159

time is because it's been I've been

1739.44

playing around with this

1740.84

lately take some of your key content

1743.36

your you know your pitches uh maybe some

1746

of your slide decks and stuff like that

1747.52

take some of that content have a chat

1750.08

with one of the AI engines that are out

1751.84

there and see if it gives you some sort

1754.559

of a a direction that maybe you're like

1757.279

oh you know what I want to word this a

1759.44

little differently or hey that's a

1761.919

different line of business or a

1763.36

different pursuit that maybe I can like

1765.2

expand out that way. It's a great way to

1768.279

just get your information with a

1771.2

different set of eyes. I mean, you can

1772.799

always sit down with a friend or

1773.919

something like that and just say, "Hey,

1775.039

take a look at my site. Take a look at

1776.64

this flyer. Take a look at this email.

1778.96

What do you think? What are your

1779.919

thoughts?" And get their feedback. But

1782

you can also get that through, you know,

1783.919

AI engines to say, "Hey, what do you

1785.52

think about like take a look at this

1787.44

site and tell me what it says to you or

1790.48

something like that." Um, and there are

1792.24

a lot of tools like that that are out

1793.919

there these days. And it doesn't hurt to

1796.08

have, like I said, another set of eyes

1798.159

and see what comes out of it because it

1800.08

might actually be something that is a,

1801.76

you know, suddenly an epiphany of your

1803.44

own where it's like, oh, I can go this

1805.6

different direction or I can state this

1807.279

a different way and it's going to have a

1809.279

a different impact. It's going to hit

1811.6

them in the fields, as they say, a

1813.279

little bit

1814.44

differently. I don't want to hit you in

1816.32

the fields anymore. I don't want to

1817.44

exhaust you and make you take a long nap

1819.12

that turns into a long night of sleep.

1821.36

So, we will wrap this one up. We will be

1823.52

back. We got a few episodes left before

1825.44

we hit this season. And we don't even

1828.159

know what this next season is yet. So,

1830

we are more than happy to hear from you.

1832.559

But probably like last time, we are

1834.24

going to end up like going into episode

1836.32

one and that is when we will actually

1838.48

figure out what the next season is

1839.84

because that's actually a really fun way

1841.76

to go. It keeps it entertaining to us

1843.6

and we're always worried about what is

1845.44

that? We've got that cliffhanger of what

1847.52

is the next season going to bring. Go

1850.559

out there and have yourself a good one

1851.919

and we will talk to you next time.
