An Introduction

Names can tell a story, but an introduction always helps.  You may have guessed by the merged name.  This site is aimed at Developers and Entrepreneurs.  The focus is on these two classifications because we have found that the best developers have an almost entrepreneurial spirit.  All developers have a desire to build new things.  However, when the entrepreneur side is added, the focus shifts to new, useful, things.  In other words, we focus on practical applications of technology.

Developers and IT staff are often criticized for their lack of business knowledge.  They also get accused of lacking a practical use to their solutions.  Our goal is to address those short comings by helping developers improve their business knowledge.  Experience has shown that simply teaching people to code is a short term solution.  The coders have a ceiling to their skills and careers because they lack the foundation and key skills that are needed for mid and senior level developers as well as higher end roles and positions.  We cover theory, but also include practical experience throughout the process.  This ensures there is always a concrete usage and helps our students tie theory to business problems.  It also gives the student the advantage of having “real world” experience they can use to get  job or land a project.

It is All About Solving Problems

Coders have a ceiling to their skills and careers because they lack a solid foundation.  They also lack key skills that are needed for mid and senior level developers as well as higher end roles and positions.  The biggest of these skills that they lack is problem-solving.  Bootcamps and classes provide an introduction to a skill, but not enough applications for the skill.  Thus, students are given a tool but not instructed in how that tool can solve a problem.

We cover theory, but also include practical experience throughout the process.  This ensures there is always a concrete usage for the skills taught.  It also helps our students tie theory to business problems.  Students leave a course with the advantage of having “real world” experience they can use to get  job or land a project.

Our Ideal Students

Our training starts at a level of no development experience.  Thus,  anyone can give our approach a try.  The classes are fast paced, but we try to ensure there is always a pay-off around the corner.  This may be a useful application you have built yourself, or a new set of skills you can market to get a new job or promotion.  We cover modern and “hot” technologies but also teach how to solve common problems in the business world.  We focus on commonly requested skills and combine that with commonly requested problems to solve.

This approach is built in from the start of our first course.  Students are trained to build a service or sales business as the culmination of the topics.

Our experience has spanned several industries and dozens of companies so we can provide pointers and warnings to help improve each student’s chances of building at least a moderately successful business.  Our goal is to help each student use what they learn in our classes to bootstrap their way into our into series of courses.  Thus they become a highly skilled and sought after developer with a long, and successful, IT career.
